120lb, GP, Mk. 1
The Mk.I General Purpose (GP) bomb entered RAF service in 1925. The 120lb variant was least used and the RAF later standardised on 250lb and 500lb sizes.
The General Purpose bomb was designed to be simple to produce and effective against a range of targets. Before the advent of medium and heavy bombers with dedicated bomb bays, light bomber aircraft such as the Hawker Hart held bombs in carriers underneath their lower wings
