1,000lb General Purpose (GP) Bomb, Mk 2
General Purpose bombs were the standard air dropped munitions used by the RAF at the outbreak of the Second World War.
They ranged in weights from 20lb to 4,000lb but suffered from a low explosive to weight ratio. The fins provided stability during the bomb's fall, while the body contained the explosive charge.
