USAAF Memorial Stone
This memorial was created for the 1984 Liverpool Garden Festival to commemorate the city’s link with the USAAF as a disembarkation point for personnel and equipment.
At the end of the war, the numerous airfields used by the US Army Air Force (USAAF) quickly returned to agricultural use. However, many towns and villages retain memorials to the airmen who once briefly called Britain home.
