Star of the Order of the Crown (Belgium) First Class (Grand-Croix de l’Ordre de la Couronne) awarded to MRAF Sir John Maitland Salmond by Leopold the Third, King of the Belgians
The Order of the Crown is one of Belgium’s highest honours and was awarded in five classes, the highest being the Grand Cross. It was conferred on ‘Air Marshal Sir John Salmond’ on 9th February 1935. On 15th March 1935, King George the Fifth gave permission to Sir John to wear the Star when meeting with Belgians and on official occasions or while at any official or semi-official ceremony held exclusively in connection with Belgium.
