RAF flying display pageant: 27 June 1936: Souvenir programme
Programme for the seventeenth Royal Air Force display held at Hendon on Saturday 27 June 1936. The final Interwar display was held in 1937.
The Royal Air Force Display was the brainchild of Lord Trenchard, First Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Chief of the Air Staff and Controller of the Royal Air Force Memorial Fund. One reason for the show was to raise money for the Memorial Fund. The first Royal Air Force Pageant was held at Hendon on 3 July 1920, the last Display on 26 June 1937. Approximately 4 million people visited the shows and over 15 thousand pounds was raised for the Fund.
