Medal Bar of Squadron Leader Anthony Garforth Miller
After joining the RAF in 1935, Spitfire pilot Anthony Miller led No. 17 Squadron for much of the Battle of Britain.
In September 1940, his Hurricane was attacked by a Messerschmitt Bf 110 and he managed to make a forced landing at North Weald. In 1941 Miller took command of No. 134 Squadron and was posted to Murmansk where he trained Russian pilots to fly Hurricanes.
