Pilot Officer Cyril Barton’s Service Dress Cap
The Officer's, 1920 Pattern Service Dress Cap belonging to Pilot Officer Cyril Barton VC. The cap is signed on the inside by the crew members who survived the action for which Cyril was awarded his Victoria Cross.
Pilot Officer Cyril Barton was the pilot of a Halifax which was attacked and damaged by fighters. Three of his crew baled out, but Cyril managed to drop his bombs and return to England. He died when his aircraft crashed on landing but the remaining crew survived. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his extreme courage
