Schneider Trophy Miniature
Miniature of the Schneider Trophy presented to Reginald Mitchell, who headed the design team at Supermarine, which designed a series of to compete in the Schneider Trophy.
Announced in 1912 to promote the development of aircraft operating from open water, the Schneider Trophy was competed for from 1913-1931. Initially the competition was for practical aircraft, however, after the First World War the trophy became more a speed competition. Any nation that won the trophy three times consecutively would win the trophy outright. Great Britain achieved this feat by winning in 1927, 1929 & 1931.
