Flying Helmet, RAF, Type C, Wired
During 1941 the Type C started to replace Type B as the standard leather Flying Helmet used by the RAF. The refined ‘wired’ version was introduced during 1944 and included an integral wiring loom.
While this is a 'wired' example, the integral wiring loom has been removed and an external loom has been fitted connecting the telephones to the microphone of the Type G Oxygen Mask. It is currently displayed on a figure depicting the appropriate flying clothing for an air gunner during 1944.
