9250lb Cylindrical Anti-Dam Mine or 'Bouncing Bomb'.
This is a replica of the famous ‘bouncing bomb’ used by No. 617 Squadron to destroy dams in the Ruhr Valley.
Although commonly called a bomb, it is actually a cylindrical rotating mine. Once in contact with the dam wall, the mine sank to a depth of 30 feet / 9 metres and a hydrostatic fuse detonated its 6,600lb / 2,994kg of high explosive Torpex.
