This nozzle is a part of the looped hose in-flight refuelling system developed by Sir Alan Cobham’s Flight Refuelling Ltd. It was used on transatlantic flights.

Sir Alan Cobham founded Flight Refuelling Ltd in 1934 and experimented with in-flight refuelling for both the RAF and civil aircraft operators. This nozzle was part of their looped hose system which was trialled from 1937-1949.
