Pilot's flying log book of Lieutenant Francis William Long, 1917-1923
Francis Long arrived in France in November 1918 just after the armistice, he later served with No.55 Squadron in Iraq from April 1922-October 1923, operating the De Havilland D.H.9a.
Long remained in the RAF until his retirement in 1953, achieving the rank of Air Vice Marsha. He was honoured for his work in the Second World War, firstly for the success of the Air Training Plan in Canada and latterly for his work in the role of Director of Combined Operations (Air).
