RAF identity card of MRAF Sir John Maitland Salmond, 1964
This Royal Air Force Identity Card (RAF Form 1250) was issued to Marshal of the Royal Air Force (MRAF) Sir John Maitland Salmond.
MRAF Sir John Salmond was an officer in the newly formed Royal Flying Corps (RFC) in 1912. He held several positions in high command in the RFC and RAF and was appointed Chief of the Air Staff after Sir Hugh Trenchard in 1930, serving until 1933. Before retiring in 1943, he was Director or Armament Production then Director-General of Flying Control and Air Sea Rescue.
