Man pick-up trials
Film in which an Avro Anson aircraft picks up test loads and people from the ground while in flight, using a winch, cable and hook fitted in the aircraft’s fuselage.
A winch and cable are seen fitted in the fuselage of an Avro Anson aircraft and a cable is seen stretched across the top of two vertical poles on an airfield. A low-flying Anson uses a hook to pick up test loads before tests using living people. Captain Lee-Warner, Wing Commander Wingfield and Squadron Leader Stewart are seen wearing harness before being picked up by the Anson in this way.
