United Nations Service Medal for Korea
The United Nations Service Medal was the first international award created by the United Nations and was awarded to military service member of the Armed Force, allied with South Korea, who participated in the defense of South Korea from North Korea between 27 June 1950 and 27 July 1954 for a minimum of 30 days.
This medal was awarded to Sergeant Ian Herbet Evans. During the Korean War he served at RAF Iwakuni in Japan servicing transport aircraft. Papers and photos relating to Sergeant Evans are held in our Archive (AC97/10).
