Avro Lancaster B Mk III, DV267, close-up of aircrew about to climb on board, 1944

Warrant Officer John Laurens, DFM, Flight Sergeant Les Burton and Sergeants Chris Aitkin, Don Bolt, Ted Royston, Cassian Henry Waight, Davies and Kibble are pictured about to board.

DV267 was operating with No. 101 Squadron, and features an eighth crew member. Two members of the crew wear USAAF Flak armour - which was unusual for RAF air crew. This photograph was likely to have been taken shortly before DV267 was shot down over the Northern Netherlands. Lauren, Waight and Bolt were killed, the remainder were captured and became Prisoners of War.
