Rolls-Royce Pegasus 5
The Pegasus engine was devised by Bristol-Siddeley to enable aircraft to combine fixed-wing and rotary wing capability. This early example was used in the Hawker Siddeley Kestrel FGA.1, a precursor to the Harrier.
The engine's rotating nozzles could change the direction of thrust so that both conventional and hovering flight were possible.
