Copy of letter from Lord Arthur Tedder to D. Hus, in reply to his letter of thanks for the 1945 airdrops of food to Dutch civilians, 20 May 1946
Victory in Europe enabled people in occupied countries to be liberated. In April and May 1945, Bomber Command dropped food to people of the Netherlands as part of Operation Manna.
Over 10 days, RAF aircraft flew 3,100 flights with a further 2,200 by the United States Army Air Force, dropping a total of 11,000 tonnes of food. This letter of gratitude for the air drops of food and newsletters was sent to Lord Arthur Tedder in 1946.
