Pilot's flying log book of Second Lieutenant Andrew Frederick Weatherby Beauchamp Proctor, 25 May 1917-17 August 1918
Second Lieutenant Beauchamp Proctor was a South African born fighter ace. During his time with No.84 Squadron, he claimed 54 aerial victories all in the Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5, making him the highest scoring S.E.5 ace.
Beauchamp Proctor was one of the most highly decorated pilots of the First World War, being awarded the Victoria Cross, Distinguished Service Order, Military Cross and Bar, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was the highest-scoring South African ace. His logbook records his flying career from initial pilot training to operational flying over the Western Front between September 1917 and August 1918. Tragically, he was killed in a flying accident at Upavon in 1921.
