Orr was posted to No.1 Squadron RNAS operating the Sopwith Camel fighter in February 1918, The squadron was renumbered No.201 Squadron on the formation of the Royal Air Force in April 1918. His log book records a number of offensive patrols flown in the summer of 1918. Lieutenant Orr was killed on 8 August, the first day of the Battle of Amiens, he was flying an offensive patrol when his aircraft was seen in flames near Villers-Bretonneux, he was 21 years old.
