John Searby was credited as the first Pathfinder "Master of Ceremonies" for the Peenemunde raid of August 17 1943, and for this was awarded the Distinguished Service Order seen in the medal bar.

Arthur Spencer was a navigator in Lancaster bomber aircraft of 97 Squadron, including raids on Peenemünde and Berlin. In Dakota transport aircraft, he participated in the Berlin Airlift of 1948-1949.
