Bird-Wilson joined the RAF in 1937, after completing his flying training he was posted to No.17 Squadron. In September 1938, Brid Wilson was involved in a crash and suffered severe facial injuries, undergoing pioneering plastic surgery.

Battle of Britain Class Locomotive Plate, Sir Keith Park

Locomotive nameplate carried on British Rail Battle of Britain class pacific locomotive 34053 "Sir Keith Park". This was the third locomotive named as part of the battle of Britain Class, following Winston Churchill and Lord Dowding, but its naming ceremony followed those of six other engines. The locomotive was formally named by Park, at Brighton station, on 19 September 1947.
