Sepecat Jaguar ACT Demonstrator

The Active Control Technology (ACT) Jaguar was an analogue airframe modified to be less stable and fitted with fly-by-wire computer technology for trials work. Lessons learned from these trials was used in later aircraft like the EAP and Eurofighter Typhoon. No modern fighter jet today could fly without the use of computers.

Fieseler Fi 103 V-1 Flying Bomb

This example of a V-1 flying bomb was captured intact by the British at the end of the war. V-1s were launched from sites in France towards South East England from 13 June 1944 and against targets in the Midlands and the North of England. Nearly 9,000 were launched, killing around 6,000 people.

Mitsubishi Ki-46 'Dinah'

This Ki-46 was captured by the British in Malaya at the end of the War. It was assessed by the Allied Technical Air Intelligence Unit, South East Asia (ATAIU SEA), before coming to the UK as a museum object.

Taylorcraft Auster Air Observation Post Mk I

A small single engined, fixed undercarriage, high-wing army observation aircraft, from 1942 to the end of the war the Auster AOP served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and with the 2nd Tactical Air Force from Normandy to Germany.

Boy Entrants wore a chequered hat band as part of their uniform. The colours of the hat band displayed, known as 'rhubarb and custard', were unique to RAF Cosford, which was one of the principal Boy Entrant training stations.
