Fairey Battle Mk I

This Battle served with Coastal Command in Iceland for a brief period from August 1940 before crashing in bad weather. Its two crew members were injured but were able to reach safety after a two-day walk which included crossing three rivers.
Rolls-Royce Merlin XX

Although it was famous for powering Spitfires and Hurricanes, the Merlin was also used to power many bomber aircraft. The Merlin XX, fitted to the much larger Halifaxes and Lancasters, had a two-speed supercharger which improved performance at high altitude.
Austin K2 Ambulance

The Austin K2 Ambulance was used by all Commonwealth forces during the Second World War. It was a familiar sight at airfields, where aircrew returning from operations were often in need of urgent medical care.
