As a pilot in 1941, Squadron Leader Scarf was the only member of the RAF to be awarded the Victoria Cross for service in East Asia during the Second World War.

Wilfred Edward Jones joined the RAF as an Apprentice in 1931. Jones served until 1961 when he died whilst serving as a Squadron Leader in the Assistant Chief of Air Staff's Intelligence staff. Jones was Mentioned in Despatches in the London Gazette in 1945

Clifford Rudland served with No. 263 Squadron from 1940–1942, flying Westland Whirlwinds and Hurricanes. In 1941 he destroyed two Messerschmitt Me 109s in the air and damaged a Junkers Ju 87 on the ground during a sortie in France.
