Copper oil lamp in greco-Roman style with handle in form of snake with red enamelled eyes. Detachable lid with wick coiled inside and chained cover over end spout. Moulded decoration on both sides - 73 S(quadron) and labrador type dog jumping up within a letter C.

Sheet of paper to which has been attached: a letter from Maj John Charles Quinnell to 2Lt Reginald Alfred Charles Brie informing him that he has been graded as a Flying Officer Observer and is authorised to wear his Observer brevet; Brie's Observer brevet, and; Brie's subsequent RAF Pilots' brevet, 27 June 1918 and n.d.

Single-breasted, khaki jacket with roll-step collar and lapels, four flap and button pockets, the breast pockets pleated, the skirt pockets of bellows type. Center rear vent. Shoulder straps bearing bronze rank pips for a Lieutenant. Bronze RFC badges on the collar have been removed. The sleeves cut with plain pointed false cuffs. Two blue War Service chevrons above right cuff.
