Miniature china heraldic RFC cap with multi coloured Fleur-de-lis design printed one side above LILLE with "LILLE captured by Germans Sept 1914" MODEL of R.F.C. Cap the other.

Percussion hand grenade. Standard Infantry weapon. Cylindrical brass body (which contained the explosive) with segmented cast iron ring half way along (intended for fragmentation), turned wooden handle and long webbing 'streamers' attached to handle by cordage whipping, their purpose being to stabilise the grenade in flight (best ensured by a 'bowling' action), ensuring that it landed on its head, which was necessary to activate the impact fuse. Safety pin with cord fitted at base of brass body. Fuze missing-hole filled with small cork.
