Aircraft & Exhibits, In Storage, 67/U/234

Thick, pale khaki cotton combination suit interlined with multiple layers of oiled silk and with a fur fabric lining. The garment is constructed with a double flap arrangement over the chest buttoning on the right side. The main opening continues downwards into a button fly. Cuffs gathered into a band fastening with a button. Ankles similar but with a slit further up the leg to assist putting on and fastening with two buttons. Narrow adjustable half belt at rear. Large diagonal open pocket on chest and large open pockets on the thighs. Fur collar fastening with a buckled tab. Garment soiled and fur in poor condition.

Wooden Interplane strut of oval section with tapered ends fitted with original steel ferrules and (alloy) fork ends. From R.E.8. two seat reconnaissance biplane with "Daimler" manufacturers original transfer applied on one side.

Length of solid wood, probably spruce, cut in streamline section but probably too small to be a strut, with Boulton and Paul Ltd transfer, stamped 1917 on the reverse. Drilled with a pair of holes at either end.
