Historical notes on the Royal Air Force Staff College 1922-1965 and details of No. 1 Staff Course 1922-1923
The RAF Staff College was opened at Andover on 3 April 1922 by Air Vice Marshal Sir John Maitland Salmond.
RAF Staff College courses prepared officers for staff duties and helped them to understand lessons learned from operational experience. Courses were also open to officers of the Royal Navy, Army and Commonwealth Air Forces. The first American student attended in 1943. This document provides a chronological history of the college up to 1965. The left column contains the names of RAF officers and directing staff attending the first staff course
