Gladys Ellison received this letter from the War Office's Director of Graves Registration and Enquiries, regarding her husband Harold’s grave.

Sgt Harold Ellison had been killed on the night of 15/16 March 1944 in the crash of Avro Lancaster ND681. At the time of writing in February 1945, special search units were still working to confirm burial reports of personnel killed prior to D-Day (6 June 1944). Sgt Ellison's death was officially confirmed in 1947.
