On a patch of black melton cut to shape, the words ROYAL FLYING CORPS embroidered in off-white arranged in two lines, the upper, first two words, curved, the lower straight. The back reinforced with gummed skrim and the letters embroidered through.

Within a blackened wreath of laurel with a swastika at the base, a bronze winged arrow, point downwards. On either side of the wreath horizontal sprays of silver oak leaves. Horizontal fastening pin on reverse.
