Narrow chin strap on right with broad, fur lined centre piece under chin engages with a leather-covered buckle on left. Small rectangular ear flaps sewn down at front and back, covering a pattern of six small holes pierced in the helmet sides. These flaps decorated - left - with a First Aid Nursing Yeomanry badge and - right - with an RFC button. Short, vertical goggles retaining straps at sides, the lower end secured by a press stud. On either side towards the rear of the skirt a leather-covered pin buckle set at an angle, possibly for a fur lined chin mask.
