Telegram informing Mrs Audrey Albon that her husband Eric is missing from operations
This telegram was sent to Mrs Audrey Albon on 13 June 1944, informing her that her husband Flying Officer Eric Albon of No. 78 Squadron, was missing following an operation on the night of 12 June 1944.
Flying Officer Eric Albon was a bomb aimer with No. 78 Squadron, flying Halifaxes. He failed to return from an operation to Amiens in which he was flying in Halifax LV820 on 12 June 1944. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. His aircraft crashed into the middle of a German convoy, killing around 50 German soldiers.
