On a patch of black melton cut to shape, the words ROYAL FLYING CORPS embroidered in off-white arranged in two lines, the upper, first two words, curved, the lower straight. The back reinforced with gummed skrim and the letters embroidered through.

Fusee, Canister, Aircraft Destruction

Small cylindrical black metal canister with screw-on type brass lid horizontally inlaid onto angled rectangular wooden mount. There are two large brown fuses/matches either side of this and four more in the canister. Centrally placed underneath the canister is a plaque screwed onto the mount inscribed with "Canister of fusees (sic) issued August 1914 to pilots of the Royal Flying Corps to set fire to their aircraft if forced to land in enemy territory."
